EP #2

As you cruise through this often bleak and lonely musical galaxy, searching for a spot to park your sonic spaceship, pull over and land on the World Of Sound, the dazzling new EP from Jonny Corralitos. Once the first notes of Rough Time, the album opener, hit you with narcotic satisfaction, you won’t want to leave.

While Jonny’s previous EP, Journey To The Source, delved into his own hippie-folk roots, (and indeed, hippie-folk upbringing) World of Sound blasts off into energetic, euphoric pop, lush reggae rhythms, and tight, melodic indie rock. Thematically, too, W.O.S. is a new world: tales of love and heartbreak, teenage angst and middle-aged wisdom, of women who don’t understand men who don’t understand women, of flings that are over before they’ve begun… but who cares, because at least you’ve had your fun.

EP #1

Emerging from the cold, nutrient-rich ocean of Northern California, and raised by hippies in a teepee nestled amid the fog-shrouded Santa Cruz Mountains, the soulful musical savant known as Jonny Corralitos reflects on the journey that took him from the commune, to the pounding winter surf of Pleasure Point... to the nightclubs and recording studios of LA and Brooklyn... and back. Back to the source.

With each of the six songs on Journey To The Source, Jonny Corralitos sings a different chapter of his life. Backed by his own delightful acoustic picking, and the Shady Mountain Band—featuring some of the finest roots musicians in California—Jonny rekindles the memories that shaped his young life: sitting around the commune fire, learning guitar from cosmic hippies and paranoid pot growers while peacocks prowled the premises... the discovery of ska and reggae from fellow surfers, that brought him down from the mountain to the sea, and to a music career in distant cities... before eventually finding love and returning to his Northern California roots.

An ear-pleasing antidote to troubled times, these mellow and memorable odes to the West Coast take the listener on a trip through the strange and wonderful personal story of the artist.
